A New Season of Authenticity

Last winter I created this website and blog as I learned and experimented and developed new skills in web design, content creation, and so much more.

It was my hyper-fixation, getting it all set up and figuring out how everything worked. I posted some rather mediocre blog articles just to feel like I had something on the site… but I was too engrossed in all of the other aspects of designing the site and everything else, that I couldn’t get my mind to switch out of designer mode into writer mode.

Well, this winter, although I am actually in the middle of a site redesign, I’m simplifying things and getting back to basics and why I really started this in the first place;

In this new season of creation, this evolution if you will, I’ve decided to take a much more authentic approach to writing my blog posts, creating content for my YouTube channels, and just all around in how I show up in my own life as well.

Trying to fit into a mold has held me back for too long and clearly never served me well. I found myself overthinking EVERYTHING, and not actually creating anything. (That pesky inner critic and people pleaser has been tough to shake, but I’m working on it.)

Or, I would create things in a rush and do a poor job of it just to say I’d done it and then be disappointed with my work and the inevitably poor results. Not exactly the kind of productivity I was going for…

I have always loved to write. Creative writing was one of my main studies in College aside from the trades. My passion for creativity has been a life-long and deeply held part of my being that I have felt disconnected from over much of the last 10 years.

What I want to do is reconnect with my love of writing without stressing so much about SEO or what category everything fits into or word counts, and just write authentically the way I used to when I was younger. Some of my best writing, poetry, short stories, and unfiltered thoughts and epiphanies still live in old journals and notes from a time before I felt such a strong need to conform for my survival.
